Elijah’s Prayer Secret

A man praying Elijah's Prayer Secret

James 5:17-18 (KJV) “Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.”

The Testimony of Elijah’s Prayer

Elijah’s prayer closed the heaven, restraining the rain from falling, for three years and six months, and Elijah’s prayer also unlocked the heaven, releasing the rain, upon the earth, after three years and six months. The Bible says, “Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are…” In other words we can have the same testimony, if we follow the principle.

The Dynamics of Elijah’s Prayer

The Bible says, “And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. The secret to a wonder producing prayer is the word of God or a from God.

Elijah’s prayer was in alignment with God’s promise. This is a core ingredient that is missing, in most of our prayers- the word of God. Elijah’s prayer was about what the Lord promised to do.

The Motivation for Elijah’s Prayer

The promise motivated Elijah, to persist in prayer, even when, there was no sign of rain in the sky. He was so sure; it was going to rain, because God said so. Wonder producing prayers, are word based prayers. When you can locate a promise of God, for the situation at hand, you can provoke signs and wonders, in the place of prayer.

God doesn’t just respond to prayers, He responds to His word, in our prayers. When our prayers do not express His promises, our lives will not experience His wonders. I see the sign of His hand, in the cloud over your life. I can hear the sound of the abundance of rain. In the new month you about enter, there shall be a torrent of testimonies, in your life, in the name of Jesus Christ.

  1. I agree that the word of God is crucial, because that is what God is bound to do. For example, even though a man is “guaranteed” to get what he asks for, he cannot begin to pray something like, “God kill all my neighbours” even when they are seemingly bad/wicked people. That’s certainly not God’s will, nor His promise, for He will have all men to be saved. Yes, that’s His will. A prayer like Psalm 19:14 may be prayed endlessly without ceasing and that will get answered, because it is God’s will.
Thank you, pastor, for being a useful tool in the hands of God, ministering to many. God bless you, sir!
