Gratitude to Whom It Is Due

Gratitude to whom it is due

Gratitude should be the immediate response, after a great deliverance. Gratefulness to God, not to our skills and strategies. If God is the reason for our victory, then the glory should not go to any other.

Devotional Thought

When Samson was tied, and handed over to the Philistines, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and the ropes on his arms were broken. He picked a jawbone of a donkey, and he killed one thousand men. I think an ordinary jawbone cannot kill a man.

The truth is, anything in the hand of any man anointed, by the Spirit of God, no matter how weak, or insignificant, can achieve the unbelievable. It was like the stones of David, that brought down the giant.

It is not about the stones, it is about the Spirit behind the man, that threw the stone. The victory couldn’t have come because of the the jawbone; it is the Spirit, behind the man, that held the jawbone.

You should know that it is not the size of your resources, or the strength of your network, that determines the outcome of your life; it is your connection, with the living God.

Please, as your testimonies begin to roll in, because they will, I say with all conviction, don’t fall into the error of Samson. After Samson had experienced the great deliverance, he was so excited, that the excitement beclouded his sense of judgement.

Rather than expressing gratitude to God, he began to praise himself, and the jawbone of a donkey. When he became thirsty, and there was no water in sight, then he remembered, that his victory was of the Lord, and the glory belongs to Him.

The bible says, “…so he cried out to the Lord and said, “You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant; and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?”(Judges 15:18) When he returned the glory to God, the Lord responded with another miracle.

Prayer Starter

Father, exalt my horn, like the horn of the unicorn, and anoint me with fresh oil, in Jesus’ name.

Let’s Talk About It?

What should be the normal response when something great happen in our lives?

Has God touched you in any specific way through our resources? Whatever your testimony is, we will love to hear. The Bible says, “…Proclaim among the nations what He has done.” (Psalms 9:11 NIV). Your testimony is a prophecy to others, share it with us. Share your story.

  1. I caught another light from today’s devotional. It is the Spirit of God in man that makes man extraordinary and all glory must go back to him. That skill we are so good at is actually the spirit of God. Glory be to Jesus.

  2. So true Sis. Joy, our skill at its best will bring us nothing better than what is common to men, it is the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon our skills that produces extraordinary results.
